The main story of The Book of Unwritten Tales features a vague war and a ring that supposedly can change the "fate of the war." All of this is a bit cliché but the characters, writing, and puzzles in The Book of Unwritten Tales more than makes up for it.

The puzzles in The Book of Unwritten Tales are creative and challenging. You really have to explore level thoroughly if you want to find all the hidden items and if you want to solve a puzzle. While the game remains fun for the most part, The Book of Unwritten Tales should have included multiple solutions for a puzzle.

Performance of the game is smooth and runs well, even on older hardware. There are plenty of pre-rendered cut scenes that look great but the in game graphics are beautiful as well. Controls are simple; you only need your mouse to point on items you want to interact with.

Overall, The Book of Unwritten Tales doesn't reinvent the point-and-click genre but remains faithful with a solid story and challenging puzzles.
